Pre-Requisites: candidates must be trained and hold operator certification in basic chainsaw maintenance, operation and felling small trees
- Unit 201 – Maintenance of the Chainsaw and Cutting System ( Formerly Cs30)
- Unit 202 – Cross-Cut Timber Using a Chainsaw (Formerly Cs30)
- Unit 203 – Fell and Process Trees up to 380mm (Formerly Cs31)
- The safe operation of the MEWP IPAF.
IPAF Certificates are to be provided for onward proof to NPTC

Course introduction
Various options are available dependant on clients specification, however, we do use vehicle-mounted cherry picker of Ipaf 1b category mounted on a 4 x 4 capable Landrover 130 for these chainsaw operations.
The content of the Chainsaw Cherry Picker course.
Candidates will identify factors in a risk assessment and state the relevant legislation and industry best practice in regards to the use of both the handsaw and chainsaw from a MEWP Cherry picker.
Pre-work checks will be made any faults will be recognized, commented on and corrected prior to use.
The course covers PPE and the relevant equipment checks that need to be undertaken by LOLER.
The candidate will position the MEWP in a suitable manner to remove lateral limbs and remove vertical stem sections.
The pulling rope is to be correctly installed and the use of basic knots demonstrated.
Candidates should use their own Safety clothing PPE
